Photographed inward bound for Harwich passing
Landguard Point, Felixstowe
on the 26th June 1992.
Built in 1936 by Harland & Wolff Ltd. at Belfast as the
"Dunnottar Castle".
In 1958 she was renamed "Victoria" and converted into a pure passenger ship.
Renamed again in 1977 to "The Victoria"
Owners Phaidon Navigation S.A., Panama registered, but in the colours of Chandris.
11,541 GRT.
I was working at a shipping company at the time and
was down at Felixstowe for a few days
installing computer equipment. I finished early and went to the viewing area, which was
rather crowded. Suddenly "The Victoria" appeared, rounding the point from sea. I
don't think
I've ever moved so fast in getting the camera out!!
Later that year, she was sold and renamed
"Princesa Victoria" under the Cypriot flag.
